5 best African countries for women entrepreneurs
Professor Mr. Kwegyiri Aggre, once said, “if you educate a man, you educate an individual, but when you educate a woman you educate a whole nation”. Any society that denies women the opportunity to work is simply laying the foundation for its own perpetual poverty.
A lot of the world’s societies consist of more women than men. Therefore to prevent women from working, will gradually threaten economic progress and stability. And denying women the opportunity to work means they, won’t be able to contribute to wealth creation.
Instead, they would be entirely dependent on the men. Thereby becoming liabilities instead of the useful members of society they are supposed to be. Only 13 countries are ranked among the 65 most progressive countries for women entrepreneurs.
Before we go to the list, here is something interesting to consider about women entrepreneurs currently. They contribute about 37% of the world’s global Gross Domestic Product, (GDP). They do this by working in their local grocery stores, working as professional healthcare providers, or establishing their own startups. This is exactly why more women should be encouraged to participate in the global labor market in whatever capacity they can.
1 . Firstly, BOTSWANA
Botswana: This Southern African country ranked 35 on the global index. It is the first African country with the highest ranking on the index.
2 . Secondly, SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa: Next on the list is South Africa which ranked number 37 on the global index.
3 . Thirdly, GHANA
Ghana: Next up is this West African country which came in at number 48 on the global index.
4 . Also, MADAGASCAR
Madagascar: This island country took the 50th position on the global index.
5 . Lastly, UGANDA
Uganda: Next to Ghana is Uganda which ranked number 52 on the global index.
