Job Description

Avalon Pharmacy Ltd, is seeking offers from qualified persons to fulfill the role of a pharmacy assistant as described in this solicitation.

JOB I.D: APL001

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Check for expired medications and shop products.
  • Notify the pharmacist when stock is low
  • Take in and handle out prescriptions
  • Dispense prescriptions
  • Use store’s computer systems to generate label and stock lists
  • Help in maintaining reasonable dispensary stock levels
  • Order items for use within and outside the shop
  • Receive, load and unload incoming goods from manufacturers, wholesalers and elsewhere
  • Sell over the counter medicines and shop products.
  • Answer queries on the availability and supply of medicines and shop products.
  • Respond to face to face and telephone enquiries of a routine nature from members of the public, patients, their representatives.
  • Pre-pack, assemble and label medicines and shop products
  • Create and maintain patient profiles as needed.
  • Prepare insurance claim forms
  • Manage the cash register
  • Perform cleaning medication storage shelves, bins, refrigerators etc;
  • Perform administrative duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED 

Education:

  • WASSCE certificate
  • Possession of a Pharmacy or medicine counter assistant qualification from a reputable institution.
  • Some form of licensing with a reputable institution would be a plus.

Prior Work Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional medicine counter assistance work.

Job Knowledge:

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge in areas detailed in this solicitation.
  • Applicant must be willing to work late hours, weekends and holidays on rotation-basis.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid experience in planning and organization
  • Excellent customer care
  • Attention-to-detail oriented
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Basic computer skills including use of windows operating systems.

Location:

Must live around Madina, Ashaley-Botwe, East Legon, Adenta and it’s environs.

  • All relevant educational certificates.
