Coronavirus Update: Akufo-Addo extends ban on churches, other public gatherings for two weeks more

President Nana Akufo-Addo has imposed two weeks extensions on ban on churches, Mosques and other public gatherings in country.

The ban on public gatherings was imposed about a month ago as part of the measures to curtail the spread of the deadly novel Coronavirus.

The extension was announced during his 8th broadcast to the nation on Sunday night.

Currently, Ghana’s COVID 19 case count hits 1,550, 11 deaths and 155 recoveries according to the Ghana Health Service website.

This means that 271 new cases have been recorded in the West African country.

It also said 155 patients have recovered from 134 in its last update.

The regional breakdown is as follows:

  • Greater Accra Region – 1,347
  • Ashanti Region – 69
  • Eastern Region – 57
  • Oti Region – 17
  • Central Region – 17 
  • Northern Region – 13
  • Volta Region – 10
  • Upper West Region – 8
  • Upper East Region – 8
  • North East Region – 
  • Western Region – 1
  • Western North Region – 1
  • Savannah Region – 0
  • Bono Region – 0
  • Ahafo Region – 0
  • Bono East Region – 0
