Popular radio presenter, Mr Kwamena Marfo of the Despite Media Group has told Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to focus on saving the ailing economy instead of mounting a defence at the least opportunity, he gets.
Speaking on ‘Me Man Nti’ show on Neat FM on Monday, August 9, Mr Marfo expressed shock that the Vice President could still gather courage and say that the economic situation in the country is in good shape despite the Covid-19.
He opined that the strategy by Dr Bawumia to aim a dig at the NDC at every given opportunity is not something which is expected of him as the Vice President of the country.
Mr Marfo revealed that many NPP bigwigs who have confided in him
are not happy with the posturing of Dr Bawumia about his economic management style and public utterances.
In this vein, he has urged the Vice President to learn from the Trade & Industry Minister, Mr Alan Kyerematen about how the latter is going about his business.
“Look at one district one factory, have you heard Alan Kyerematen at an event bragging about his achievement. Alan always tries to deliver on his task, what about you” he quizzed the Vice President.
It is recalled that Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, remarked that the Akufo-Addo led administration, has been one of the best administrations since 1992 when it comes to the management of the cedi against other foreign currencies.
Speaking at a regional seminar of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) on 7th August at the University of Cape, Dr Bawumia said that the performance of the cedi in 2020 and 2021 has been handled superbly by the Economic Management Team(EMT).
“I doff my hat to the Central Bank for the work that they are doing in the management of the exchange rate. Cumulatively, from the beginning of the year to date, the exchange rate has depreciated by 0.6% against the US dollar, but it has appreciated by 3.6% against the Euro.”
